Your bespoke dance experience begins here…
It’s not just your first dance…
It’s the first expression of yourselves as a married couple to those you hold dear.
They aren’t just dance lessons…
They are a journey to discovering a new form of communication and intimacy with your partner.
The Process
-
We will discuss what you want for your dance(s) and determine whether a fully choreographed dance or a foundational step and turn sequence would be right for you.
Next we will discuss your event and the people that will be involved in your dance(s). I will ask detailed questions such as the height of those involved and what everyone will be wearing.
The discussion will also include guidance on song choice. It is great to come into the meeting with a song (or preferably a few) in mind, but not every song will be easy to dance to. Keep an open mind about song choice. We will talk about the overall vibe you want for your dance as well as the pros and cons of possible songs to make sure dancing to your song will be easy.
Lastly we will go over the cost and get you scheduled for your first private lesson. Depending on how much we are able to accomplish in your first lesson, you may want to schedule additional lessons, but this can be determined at a later date.
-
After your consultation, I go to work choreographing your masterpiece. I take many factors into account when choreographing. These factors include but aren’t limited to: learning styles, attire, aesthetic of your event, videos and pictures you’ve sent me, performance and musical experience, personality, physical limitations, parts of your body you would like to accentuate, good shots for your photographer, etc.
Whether I’m choreographing a full routine or just a foundational step with turn sequence, I teach the steps to my partner who does not have a dance background to ensure that the steps are easy to learn.
-
During your first lesson, we will talk about counting the music and how to “feel” the beat. We will go over the foundational step for your dance and practice leading and following. If there are any lifts or dips in your routine, we will then go over how to do them. Once you are comfortable with those initial concepts, we will begin learning the choreography.
How many lessons will you need? That all depends on you! The more choreography there is to learn, the more time it may take to learn. You may also feel better with regular lessons leading up to your event to ensure you are getting consistent practice. Frequent practice is very important if you want to feel relaxed and confident on your wedding day!
If at any time during your lesson we discover there is a move or a step you don’t like or if there is a move that just isn’t clicking, we can always pivot and change things. We want your dance to be fun and enjoyable!
The first step is to request a consultation below.
Once we review your request, we will contact you to schedule a video call.
